Part-time Program Leader Position

Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
​
The Program Leader is a professional, creative, flexible, fun, able to communicate a diverse array of concepts, and able to engage with both students and adults. Above all, this person has the ability to spark curiosity, creativity and confidence in all students. The Program Leader is responsible for implementing the Girls Inc. Experience in a school based environment.
Deliver an intentional school based youth development program to increase girls interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) subjects, their physical fitness, life skills, self-esteem, athletic identity, and academic success. Provide STEM, health, and sports instruction, and provide general academic enrichment and support.

2. Support, track, and deliver the following hours of service to our participants: 180 hours of service to elementary age students, 144 to middle school students, and 72 to high school students during the academic year.
3. Retain and recruit 15-20 student per class for the duration of the program to successfully educate and fully connect with youth.
On-site Programming:
Facilitation:

To inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold, prepare program sessions with keen understanding of youth and youth related issues

Plan and deliver daily academic enrichment lessons for up to 20 students a class.

Creates a safe, fun, and inclusive playground by developing and modelling standard agreements for behavior and conflict resolution skills, teaching girls the rules and strategies of the games, and recruiting disengaged girls to participate.

Develop curriculum for academic STEM (strong focus on hands-on Science), physical fitness, life skills and enrichment activities.

Develop creative and engaging projects to enhance students’ learning.

Creates lesson plans that include culturally relevant activities

Create a safe, respectful youth development based learning environment.

Deliver Interactive and informational presentations to parents to ensure all around support for youth.

Create and review weekly lesson plans with the Program Director prior to delivery.
Coordination:
-
Coordinates year-round activities for exiting program and partnerships during the school year

Communicates often with teacher, staff, parents and volunteers to inform them of Girls Inc. related events, activities, and program

Collect and maintain paperwork including organizing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules both for Girls Inc. programming and school events

Obtains necessary program data, maintain accurate/required paperwork-logs, attendance, timesheets, etc. and generates written reports as required.

Continuously track progress towards grant requirements, provides written/verbal program feedback to Program Director

Recruit, supervise and support adult and teen volunteers.

Communicates and keeps Program Director informed on all program related activities
Safe Environment:
-
Maintain organization of classroom and communal supplies and paperwork.

Keeps environment clean and free from clutter and trash.
-
Sweep and wash classroom floors, cleans table tops daily.

Trash is to be removed and placed in dumpsters daily
-
Organize classroom and recess to facilitate independence and self-control of students.

Effectively utilize prep time to prepare for activities and classroom visits.
Additional responsibilities:
-
Supports the mission through existing Girls Inc. curricula within a supportive, open environment for active learning and discussion

Supports the expansion of programming for 1-12th grade programming by staying flexible on work schedule, supporting other sites when needed, and participating in fundraising and outreach events in the community.

Participate in mandatory staff development, consultation, training, and team meetings.

Participate in occasional evening or weekend events with participants and their families.

Work closely with Program team and school staff to track participants’ progress.

Work as a team member of all staff.

Performs other duties as assigned
Essential knowledge and skills requirements:
-
4-year degree or related work experience
-
Experience working with youth required
-
Experience working with diverse families and communities required
-
Effective verbal and written communication skills
-
Ability to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in students
-
Ability to manage up to 20 students in a safe, respectful environment
-
Open to gaining new knowledge and skills
-
Experience using a database as a management and analysis tool
-
Ability to keep clear, systematic electronic records
-
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Google drive
-
Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 20 lbs.
-
Department of Justice clearance based on fingerprinting submission
-
Proof of TB test within the last two years
-
First Aid/CPR certified
-
Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
